The ideal thickness of a concrete floor depends on the weight and load the floor will be bearing, which ultimately depends on where the floor will be used. NHBC Standards does in fact state that ground-bearing concrete floor slabs should be 100mm in thickness minimum in order to be of ‘adequate strength and durability’.
